Lanterns Season 1 Finale: The Truth Behind Hal Jordan's Murder Revealed
Sheriff Kerry Kane confesses to killing Hal Jordan, while John Stewart redefines his role as a Lantern.

The first season of HBO's "Lanterns" concluded by revealing the true killer of Hal Jordan, identifying Sheriff Kerry Kane as the perpetrator and exonerating her son, Noah.
The series finale addressed the central mystery of who murdered Hal Jordan, a question that had been looming over the narrative since the first episode. John Stewart, investigating Jordan's death, uncovers the truth. Noah, initially confessing to the murder, was revealed to have lied to protect his mother.
Kane confessed to Stewart that she killed Jordan after discovering his plan to flee with her and Noah. In a moment of maternal fear and rage, she shot him. Her subsequent confession to Stewart stemmed from her desire to piece together the events.
Meanwhile, John Stewart takes possession of Hal Jordan's ring and Sinestro's lantern. He sends a message to the Guardians, declaring Earth under his protection, even as he acknowledges his new role as an "independent contractor" rather than an officially sanctioned Lantern. Stewart recites a modified oath, embracing his fear and choosing his new path.
HBO has not yet announced whether "Lanterns" will be renewed for a second season. The character of John Stewart is slated to appear in the upcoming "Superman" sequel, "Man of Tomorrow."
