Lamar Odom, the former NBA star, has reached a plea deal with prosecutors to resolve his driving under the influence case. Odom pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, first offense, at a hearing in Las Vegas on Tuesday. In exchange, charges of speeding and improper lane change were dismissed.

A judge ruled that the DUI charge will be amended to a reckless driving count if Odom fulfills a series of conditions over the next three months. These requirements include staying out of trouble, attending DUI school, completing a victim impact panel, paying a $1,000 fine, and performing 67 hours of community service.

According to court records, any new DUI offense or arrest/citation for driving with a suspended or revoked license during this period will result in a 180-day jail sentence. Failure to meet the conditions of the agreement will lead to a conviction for the original misdemeanor DUI charge.

Odom's attorney, Kevin Coburn, described the resolution as "a fair resolution given the facts of the case." The case originated from a traffic stop on Jan. 17, when Odom was pulled over for allegedly driving over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone on a Las Vegas highway. Nevada State Police Highway Patrol reported that Odom smelled of marijuana and did not pass field sobriety tests.

Odom, who played in the NBA from 1999 to 2013 and is notably Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband, stated in May that he had begun a sobriety streak following his arrest.
