Lamar Jackson Nears Return from Ankle Injury, Status for Sunday Uncertain

Lamar Jackson, the star quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, is making progress in his recovery from a high ankle sprain and has not ruled out playing in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson has been sidelined for the past two games due to the injury he sustained on October 4 during a scramble against the Titans.

"If I can just go out there and feel the pain a little bit, I can play," Jackson told reporters. "But if I’m restricted and I can’t do what I do, I’m not helping nobody. If I can just go out there and just be a statue and get hit, that’s not helping my team at all."

The injury occurred when Jackson was hit below the knee, and his ankle became trapped under a defender. He later expressed his frustration with the play via social media and was seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot. Describing the pain, Jackson stated, "It was very, very, very, very, very painful."

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter acknowledged Jackson's desire to play, noting that the decision will be based on his physical condition and perceived effectiveness. "One thing I’ll say about Lamar is that he’s super competitive and he wants to play," Minter said. "It’s going to be a decision based on how he feels and how effective he feels like he can be and how we feel like it looks."

Baltimore has gone 1-1 in the games Jackson has missed, with backup Tyler Huntley starting under center. The Ravens' offense has struggled without Jackson, scoring only 40 points in the games Huntley has played. The team, currently 4-2, is looking to rebound after a loss to the Browns last week.
