Lady Gaga Welcomes First Child Via Surrogate

Lady Gaga and her fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rose Bean Polansky, via a surrogate. The baby was born on June 9 at 11:19 p.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

The news was first reported by TMZ, which obtained the child's birth certificate. The reason for the couple's decision to use a surrogate remains unclear, though the singer has been open about her struggles with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes severe pain and exhaustion.

The name Rose holds sentimental value for Gaga, whose maternal grandmother was named Veronica Rose. The singer also has a tattoo of lyrics from her song "La Vie En Rose" from "A Star Is Born" down her spine.

Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and Polansky have been together since 2019 and became engaged in April 2024. The singer has previously spoken about her desire to become a mother. In an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" last October, she referred to motherhood as her "next starring role." Speaking to the New York Times in March 2025, she expressed excitement about becoming a mother, despite past apprehension.

Sources suggest Gaga may desire more children in the future, inspired by her own relationship with her sister, Natali, and the desire for her children to have strong sibling bonds.

The couple has been seen building a quieter life in Ross, California, a town near Governor Gavin Newsom's home.
