Ladd McConkey and Wife Announce Baby Boy Gender

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey and his wife, Sydney McConkey, revealed they are expecting a baby boy. The couple, who announced their pregnancy in August, shared the gender reveal in an Instagram post on Wednesday night. This news comes as McConkey is currently managing a rib injury sustained during the Chargers' Week 1 loss.

The social media post featured images of the couple at the beach, including one where they held a sonogram photo and a baby blue shirt to indicate they are having a son. The post garnered significant engagement, with tens of thousands of likes and shares within a day.

Ladd and Sydney McConkey, who married in April 2025, first announced their pregnancy during the early stages of training camp. The couple have been together since 2017, having met as high school sweethearts in Chatsworth, Georgia. Both attended the University of Georgia, where Sydney studied education and Ladd majored in finance. During his college football career, Ladd was a two-time National Champion with the Bulldogs and earned an All-SEC selection in 2022.

McConkey was selected by the Chargers with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key player for the team, leading them in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns in his rookie season. His current rib injury has led to him being considered day-to-day, and he has not yet returned to practice. The team recently signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the practice squad, and he may be elevated to the active roster if McConkey is unable to play.
