LA Woman Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run, Compared to Michael Myers

Raygine Glentasia Evans, 28, was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on September 22, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Evans' alleged lack of emotion following her arrest drew comparisons to the fictional horror character Michael Myers, according to Detective Ryan Moreno. "Sometimes you get people that are really, really apologetic, very sorry. They want to talk to the family, what have you," Moreno stated. "Then you get the other kind that they don’t care at all… and not to say, because it’s Halloween and all that, but very kind of Michael Myers type where there’s kind of like no emotion at all."

The collision resulted in the death of 16-year-old Hernan Martinez and critically injured his 14-year-old sister, Vicky. The siblings were struck around 9:30 p.m. near the 5900 block of 10th Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood when a blue Nissan Sentra allegedly ran a red light. Authorities reported the vehicle was traveling at 80 mph at the time of impact.

Hernan Martinez died three days after his 16th birthday. His sister sustained a fractured pelvis and was hospitalized in critical condition. Their mother, who was walking with them, was not physically injured but managed to pull Vicky away from a direct impact.

After striking the Martinez siblings, the Nissan hit a parked car and became undriveable. The driver and a male passenger then fled the scene on foot. Investigators identified the passenger as Joannae Shavon Rosby, who allegedly left with Evans in a separate vehicle. Rosby remains missing, and authorities have stated that Rosby and two other suspects face charges of aiding and abetting.

In the month preceding the fatal crash, investigators uncovered alleged connections between Evans and several robberies, as well as incidents in the San Fernando Valley. Police have also described her as a person of interest in multiple other crimes, including burglaries. Evans' bail has been set at $3.255 million, and her arraignment date has not yet been announced.
