Residents of a wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood are expressing outrage and fear after a shooting occurred outside an Airbnb rental during a large party on June 28. The incident, which took place in the Beverly Grove area, has amplified concerns about short-term rentals and neighborhood safety.

The violence erupted shortly before 3 a.m. when a large crowd that had gathered for a party at a home rented through Airbnb spilled into the street. According to authorities and witness accounts, a violent argument inside the house led to partygoers fleeing outdoors.

Surveillance footage captured a suspect firing approximately 15 shots in succession at a car parked in front of a home on Lindenhurst Avenue. Neighbors reported that the gunfire stemmed from an argument that escalated from the party onto the street. The individual who was shot drove himself to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition. He declined to cooperate with law enforcement.

Police responded to the scene but initially received a call regarding a loud banging on a front door. Investigators later cordoned off the area where the shooting occurred.

Outraged neighbors reported the incident to Airbnb, which has since suspended the listing for 90 days and issued a warning to the host. The company stated that further violations could lead to additional suspensions or removal of the listing.

This incident has intensified calls for stricter regulations on short-term rentals. City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, whose district includes the affected area, is reportedly working on legislation that would allow for the disconnection of utilities for properties with repeat Airbnb violations.

Some residents have linked the rise in crime and disturbances to an increase in homelessness in the area, describing it as a "new normal" for the neighborhood. The specific address of the Airbnb rental and the identity of its owner have not been publicly disclosed.
