LA High Schooler Dies After Falling From Fourth Floor Following Classroom Fight

A student at Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles died Wednesday after falling from the fourth floor of a campus building. The incident occurred shortly after a video circulated showing the student being bullied in a classroom and then punched by another student.

According to reports, the footage captured the moments before the victim ran out of the classroom and later jumped from a railing. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the student was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The identities of the student and the individual involved in the altercation have not yet been released.

Witnesses described hearing noises and seeing students fighting, with one witness stating, "I see a kid getting hurt pretty bad… [he] throws himself over the fourth floor." Another video reportedly shows the student jumping off the railing moments after the classroom fight.

Following the incident, Principal Marine Davtyan sent an email to parents stating that the school was in a "lockdown" due to a "medical emergency." The school announced that mental health professionals and support staff would be available on Thursday to assist students.

The LAPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding the student's death. As of Wednesday, no formal charges have been announced against the other student involved. All campus gates remained closed pending authorization from law enforcement.
