Kyren Williams' Herculean Effort Lifts Rams Over Eagles in Dramatic Comeback

Kyren Williams delivered a performance reminiscent of Rams legend Todd Gurley on Sunday, powering the Los Angeles Rams to a dramatic 24-20 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at a rain-soaked Lincoln Financial Field. The win snaps the Rams' four-game losing streak against the Eagles and halts their own skid.

Williams accounted for both of the Rams' fourth-quarter touchdowns, sealing the win and bringing his team to a .500 record through four weeks of the NFL season. The running back finished the game with 16 carries for 80 yards and two scores on the ground. In the passing game, he recorded 10 receptions for 67 yards.

This dual-threat output made Williams the first Rams running back since Todd Gurley in Week 15 of 2018—also against the Eagles—to achieve at least two rushing touchdowns and 10 receptions in a single game, according to NFL research.

The victory marks a significant one for Rams head coach Sean McVay, who entered Sunday with a 1-6 all-time record against the Eagles. His previous win in Philadelphia came in 2020 during a game played without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For Williams, the performance was a redemption, particularly in Philadelphia. In the 2024 NFC Divisional Round matchup against the Eagles, Williams fumbled on the first play of the fourth quarter, a turnover that the Eagles recovered and subsequently used to score. Though Williams surpassed 100 rushing yards in that playoff game, the pivotal fumble overshadowed his effort as the Rams lost 28-22.

Sunday's win was crucial for the Rams, shifting their season record from a potential 1-3 to .500. Despite a challenging start to the season, the team demonstrated its capacity for impactful performances in high-pressure situations.
