Kylie Kelce Apologizes to Kate Middleton for “Princess Kate” Remark
Kylie Kelce has apologized for referring to Kate Middleton as “Princess Kate” on her podcast, stating she was unaware the nickname was offensive.
Kylie Kelce issued an apology for referring to Catherine, Princess of Wales, as “Princess Kate” on her podcast, acknowledging she was unaware the moniker was considered offensive.
“I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive,” Kelce said on Thursday’s episode of her podcast, “Not Gonna Lie.” “I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly.”
Kelce, 34, extended a direct apology to the royal. “Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now.”
Catherine’s formal title has been Catherine, Princess of Wales, since September 2022, following Queen Elizabeth II’s death and Prince William’s subsequent appointment as the Prince of Wales. Prior to that, she was known as the Duchess of Cambridge after her marriage to Prince William in 2011.
Kelce had invited Middleton onto her podcast, saying, “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We got a couple things in common.” Kelce also noted that their husbands, Prince William and NFL player Jason Kelce, had previously discussed topics on the “New Heights” podcast.
On the “Not Gonna Lie” episode, Kelce read a listener comment suggesting Middleton was “too refined and beautiful to be subjected to [Kylie’s] cursing.” Kelce agreed with the sentiment, adding that she would refrain from using expletives in the presence of the Princess of Wales.
“At the end of the day, I am respectful of the situations that I am put in, at least being respectful to the people I am speaking to,” Kelce stated.
Kylie’s husband Jason Kelce and his brother Travis Kelce met Prince William and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, backstage at a Taylor Swift concert in London in June 2024. Middleton did not attend the concert, which occurred three months after she announced her cancer diagnosis.
