Kylie Kelce has issued an apology after addressing Catherine, Princess of Wales, incorrectly on a recent episode of her podcast, "Not Gonna Lie." Kelce, the wife of NFL player Jason Kelce and sister-in-law to Travis Kelce, had extended an invitation to the royal on her show, drawing a parallel to Prince William's appearance on the "New Heights" podcast.
During the initial invitation, Kelce referred to the royal as "Princess Kate." Following feedback, she addressed the misstep on a subsequent episode. "I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine ‘Princess Kate’ was offensive," Kelce stated, according to HuffPost. "I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake. I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected."
Kelce clarified that she would now use the correct title, "Princess Catherine" or "the Princess of Wales." She added, "I will get that sorted immediately, starting now."
Kelce also acknowledged a listener comment that suggested the Princess of Wales was "too refined and beautiful to be subjected to your cursing" and that Kelce "needed to clean up your act." Kelce agreed with the sentiment regarding cursing, noting, "I love a curse word. I love it so, so much... But at the end of the day, I am respectful of the situations that I am put in, at least being respectful to the people I am speaking to."
While acknowledging that the Princess of Wales is unlikely to appear on her podcast due to scheduling, Kelce expressed admiration for her, citing her role as a mother, her background in field hockey, and her battle with cancer as topics she would be interested in discussing.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has previously appeared on a podcast, making an appearance on Giovanna Fletcher's "Happy Mum, Happy Baby" in February 2020.
