Australian radio personality Kyle Sandilands has revealed he had an inkling that the marriage of country singer Keith Urban and actress Nicole Kidman was in trouble prior to their official separation announcement. Sandilands recounted on his podcast that Urban sent him a text message shortly before their split, which he now interprets as a plea for support.

"Before it was announced, Keith sent me a text ... he was coming out to Australia. He's a good guy. He sent me a text saying, 'Bro, when I get there we MUST catch up'," Sandilands said on a recent episode. He reflected that at the time he didn't fully grasp the significance of the message, but looking back, he believes it was a subtle indication of Urban's state of mind.

Sandilands speculated on the reasons behind the couple's separation after nearly 20 years of marriage. "Keith is a really nice guy and Nicole is super sweet as well. Some of these relationships just come to a natural end," he stated, adding that the intense public scrutiny faced by the couple likely meant they kept their private struggles out of the spotlight.

He also recalled a past instance on the former Kyle & Jackie O radio show when he questioned Urban about Kidman's intimate scenes in films. Sandilands described Urban as being “prickly” on the subject during a live radio appearance. "I think I said to him, 'Mate, I can't watch your wife's films. I can't watch her banging these young hotties - they're too graphic - and I know her as your wife.' And he was like, 'Yeah, next question'. I was quite shocked," Sandilands said, noting that he dismissed his suspicions at the time due to the couple's seemingly strong relationship.

Reports from New Idea have suggested that Urban was reportedly heartbroken upon learning that Kidman may have moved on with a new partner, identified as private equity businessman Michael Reinstein. The outlet quoted an insider who claimed that photographs appearing to show Kidman and Reinstein in an affectionate display were a "painful blow" to Urban, who had allegedly still held hopes for reconciliation.

According to the same reports, witnessing Kidman seemingly move forward has prompted Urban to consider his own romantic future, with the insider suggesting he might engage in a "revenge romance" of his own, recognizing the need to move on. However, the source indicated that Urban would likely prefer to keep any future relationships private.

Kidman and Urban were married for nearly two decades and share two daughters.
