Kyle Sandilands Hints at Potential Collaboration with Karl Stefanovic
Radio host Kyle Sandilands has opened the door to a future professional partnership with former television presenter Karl Stefanovic, admitting discussions have taken place.
Kyle Sandilands has indicated he would be open to working with former Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic, stating that the possibility has been discussed.
Sandilands, 55, mentioned on his radio show, The Kyle Sandilands Show, that Stefanovic, 52, could potentially join him in an afternoon role. "Karl could end up working here, doing afternoons, for all we know... which has been discussed!" Sandilands said.
He added that he maintains regular contact with Stefanovic and feels a strong connection to him. "We do catch up, we text here and there. We know what is going on in each other's lives," Sandilands stated. "I even rang him to apologise that day I was off!"
Earlier this year, speculation about a joint venture between the two media personalities intensified when two domain names, KyleandKarl.com.au and KarlandKyle.com.au, were registered by Sandilands' company, King Kyle Group Pty Ltd. The move fueled rumors that the friends, both of whom have experienced shifts in their high-profile media careers, might be planning a new project together.
However, Sandilands' manager and business partner, Bruno Bouchet, later clarified that the domain registrations were a publicity stunt with no underlying plan for a show. "Yeah, absolutely. There was nothing to it," Bouchet admitted on the Game Changers podcast, explaining that he registered the domains while speaking with a journalist about the possibility of the pair collaborating. He described it as "the best $7 I spent."
Bouchet also expressed skepticism about the viability of a daily show hosted by both Sandilands and Stefanovic. He questioned the unique chemistry and audience appeal of "two rich white guys talking to one another who are of similar age (and) experience," suggesting that the defining factor for a successful partnership is offering something unique that the audience cannot find elsewhere.
In related news, Karl Stefanovic recently resolved a legal dispute with his former business partner, Keshnee Ibrahim, over their podcast company. The settlement, reportedly worth seven figures though details remain confidential, allows Stefanovic to acquire Ibrahim's 45 percent stake in 123 Podcast Pty Ltd, the company behind his independent venture, The Karl Stefanovic Show. Ibrahim has also agreed to discontinue the legal proceedings she initiated against Stefanovic.
