Radio personality Kyle Sandilands has responded to public speculation questioning the stability of his marriage following his departure from a lucrative contract. Sandilands addressed comments suggesting his wife, Tegan Kynaston, would leave him now that his $100 million contract with ARN has ended.
Sandilands, who received a $12.09 million settlement after his contract was terminated earlier this year, stated on his "Kyle Sandilands Live" show that he found the remarks about his wife's motivations upsetting. "The most upsetting thing to me reading people's comments was, 'Let's see how long the wife lasts without all that money,'" he said. "I don't mind being insulted, but to insult my wife to say she's with me for cash is ludicrous and a demented way of thinking."
He expressed his dismay at what he termed "terrible comments" that question the strength of his bond with Kynaston, whom he married in 2023. The couple resides in a $14 million mansion in Vaucluse and shares a four-year-old son, Otto.
Sandilands suggested that individuals commenting on his marriage are overly invested in his personal life, despite claiming otherwise. "If I don't care about something that is in the press, I don't read it; I certainly don't comment about something that I don't care about," he remarked.
These comments come amidst a period of financial scrutiny for Sandilands. In addition to the contract termination, he is also involved in a legal dispute with a construction company over renovations at his Glenorie estate. Alter Build Co Pty Ltd claims Sandilands owes $240,000 for work on the six-bedroom, five-bathroom property, which Sandilands purchased for $3 million in 2022. Sandilands has stated he will not pay unless the charges are justified, asserting the project exceeded its budget. The building company sued Sandilands in the NSW District Court, and he has been ordered to file a defense within 28 days, with a hearing scheduled for late November. Sandilands initially listed the property with expectations between $5.7 million and $5.9 million, later reducing the asking price to $4.9 million, but the property has yet to sell.
Sandilands and his former on-air co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson had previously signed a 10-year contract with KIIS FM worth $200 million. Their contract concluded in March when Sandilands was suspended and subsequently terminated by parent company ARN.
