Australian radio personality Kyle Sandilands, 55, has stated that he and his wife, Tegan Kynaston, 40, do not plan to expand their family further. The couple, who are parents to three-year-old son Otto, have decided their family is complete, a decision Sandilands attributes to his age and a demanding lifestyle.
"We've talked about more kids, but we've decided no," Sandilands said in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail's The Debrief. "It's mainly because of my old age. We did want to have two at the beginning, but I was like, 'Oh, now I know why everyone has their kids in their 20s because I'm 55 and I'm exhausted and I love every minute of it"."
He added that the prospect of caring for multiple young children while dealing with illness would leave little room for rest. Sandilands and Kynaston have adopted a low-key routine, often eating dinner by 4:30 p.m. and retiring to bed by 7:30 p.m.
Sandilands' decision is also influenced by his ongoing health battles. He revealed that he continues to be monitored for a brain aneurysm behind his right eye and a second aneurysm in his chest. Doctors are unable to operate on the brain aneurysm using standard keyhole procedures due to its location being attached to multiple blood vessels, which would require a more invasive surgical approach.
"They can't really operate on the one on the head because it's attached to multiple blood vessels," Sandilands explained. "So the normal thing they can do with keyhole, they can't do it. It's behind my right eye. So they said they would have to cut all the way down this side like a massive scar."
He shared that his health issues first came to light in February 2025 when he announced his brain aneurysm diagnosis live on air. At the time, he attributed potential contributing factors to a past lifestyle that included cocaine abuse and partying. His doctor had advised him that without prompt medical attention, he could have died.
Sandilands described the aneurysm as a weak spot in a blood vessel that balloons outward, comparing it to a bubble on a tire. He warned that if it bursts, the consequences could range from becoming a vegetable or being wheelchair-bound to death. Following the diagnosis, doctors mandated significant lifestyle changes, including avoiding cocaine, heavy lifting, and stress, while the condition was monitored. The diagnosis also had a significant emotional impact on his family, with his wife Tegan reportedly becoming devastated by the news.
