Kyle Richards admitted she was initially unhappy and "not happy at all" when her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, and their daughter, Alexia Umansky, signed up for the upcoming season of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test."
Richards, known for her role in "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," spoke about her reaction during an interview. She expressed particular concern for her daughter, stating, "I was so worried about Alexia."
"Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" is a competition series that subjects celebrity recruits to the demanding Special Forces selection process, led by former military operatives. Participants face intense challenges, harsh living conditions, and unpredictable weather, with the only ways to exit the course being voluntary withdrawal, failing challenges, or injury.
"I knew that [Mauricio] would do well or whatever, but I was really worried about my daughter, and I didn’t like that she got sucked into that," Richards said. She described experiencing "a lot of sleepless nights" while Umansky and Alexia were filming in Malaysia.
Richards reportedly contacted the show's producers for updates on her family's well-being during the filming period. "I kept texting the producers, saying, 'Please, I need updates. Is my daughter OK? Is Mauricio OK? Just give me something,'" she recalled.
Despite Richards' initial reservations, she noted that Alexia was "excited" to participate in the show, attributing her adventurous spirit to her father. Richards announced her separation from Umansky in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
This is not the first time a parent-child duo from Bravo's reality television universe has appeared on "Special Forces." "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice and her daughter Gia Giudice competed in the show's fourth season. Teresa Giudice withdrew early in the competition, while Gia Giudice reached the finals.
Richards mentioned speaking with Teresa Giudice about the show prior to Season 5 filming. Alexia Umansky will join other notable figures in the upcoming season, including Collin Gosselin, Brandi Glanville, and Bre Tiesi.
"Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" Season 5 is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
