San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk has responded to a $14,926 fine from the NFL for his touchdown celebration, presenting evidence that he has been performing the same gesture for years. The league cited the celebration as an "offensive demonstration" in poor taste.
Juszczyk's signature move involves him pretending to chug juice after scoring, a nod to his nickname that has become a popular fan interaction at Levi's Stadium, with crowds chanting "Juiiiicceee." This is the first time the veteran player has been fined for the celebration, which he has employed for approximately 15 seasons.
In response to the penalty, Juszczyk took to Instagram Stories to share a post from September 2, 2021, showing him in an identical pose and stance that drew the fine after a recent game against the Miami Dolphins. The fine letter from the NFL stated, "Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste."
The league's decision has drawn scrutiny, particularly given the NFL's official sponsorship deals with major beer companies, including Bud Light.
