A large Russian drone and missile strike on Kyiv killed at least 14 people and injured dozens in the Ukrainian capital and surrounding region overnight, according to local officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated his appeals to international partners to increase the delivery of crucial anti-missile ammunition.

The Ukrainian air force stated that Russia launched 68 missiles, including 23 ballistic missiles, and 351 drones across the country. Officials reported that 37 missiles and 326 drones were intercepted or suppressed, with 29 missiles and 18 drones impacting 34 locations.

The capital sustained the most significant damage. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported 11 fatalities and 46 injuries in the city, with 26 individuals hospitalized. In the wider Kyiv region, three more people were killed and 26 injured, according to regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk.

Damage was reported in several districts of Kyiv, including Obolonskyi, Holosiivskyi, Podilskyi, and Darnytskyi. Rescue teams were searching for victims under the debris of destroyed residential buildings in Podilskyi and Darnytskyi.

President Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces intercepted many drones and cruise missiles during the "massive Russian attack," but fewer ballistic weapons. He attributed this to an "insufficient supply of interceptor missiles" and called for "strong decisions" from the NATO summit in Ankara regarding air defense.

"As long as the missiles for the Patriots remain in the warehouses of allies, this only encourages Russia to continue destroying residential buildings," Zelenskyy said, referencing the American-made Patriot missile system. "The U.S. and Europe have enough power to stop this terror."

Russia's Defense Ministry described the overnight attack as a "massive strike with high-precision long-range weapons of land, air and sea-based systems, as well as with strike drones." The ministry claimed its targets were military-industrial and energy facilities in Kyiv, along with military airfield infrastructure. The ministry also reported intercepting at least 519 Ukrainian drones overnight.

Separately, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that at least 15 Ukrainian drones were shot down en route to the Russian capital since midnight Sunday.
