Kristi Noem Departs Role as Trump's Special Envoy to Shield of the Americas
Noem will continue in an advisory capacity at the State Department following the expiration of her envoy position.
Kristi Noem has concluded her term as former President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Shield of the Americas but will remain with the State Department in a senior advisor capacity. The expiration of her envoy status last month was confirmed by a State Department official to CBS News.
Noem initially took on the envoy role in April after her tenure as Secretary of Homeland Security concluded. She will continue her work with the Shield of the Americas, a coalition focused on combating drug trafficking, under Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
At a September meeting of the 19-member coalition, Trump had commended Noem for her service. The departure from her special envoy role comes amid renewed public attention on Noem's personal life, including reported spousal support demands from her husband, Bryon Noem, in divorce proceedings. This follows earlier reporting by the Daily Mail that revealed images of her husband in attire associated with a 'bimbofication' fetish.
