Kristen Bell Uses Daughters to Spy on Dax Shepard
The actress shared her unique method for keeping tabs on her husband when she's away, enlisting their two daughters as informants.
Kristen Bell revealed that she employs her and Dax Shepard’s daughters, Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11, to monitor her husband when she is out of town. Bell shared this tactic during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“Usually when I leave, they can be mischievous when they’re together, my husband and my kids,” Bell said of their children. “Whenever I leave town, I usually receive, almost immediately, notifications on my phone, ‘You’re McDonald’s has been delivered.’ ‘Your Taco Bell has been delivered.’ They just eat fast food.”
Bell described her daughters as her “mole on the ground,” humorously noting that Shepard didn't anticipate this strategy. She stated that she receives “in-house paparazzi photos” from Lincoln, detailing Shepard's activities. One such photo, taken by Lincoln, showed Shepard in the cereal cupboard late at night while the girls were supposed to be getting ready for bed.
“That’s my girl right there!” Bell exclaimed. “I get all the details.”
This revelation follows Bell's candid remarks about the challenges of marriage and parenting. In a recent interview with Bustle, she admitted to crying weekly due to these difficulties. “It’s hard,” Bell shared. “Do not think because I am on your television that it is easy for me.” She emphasized the importance of sharing personal struggles to help others feel less alone.
Bell also stated that she prioritizes her family, choosing projects that do not take her away from her children for extended periods. She indicated that she would readily sacrifice her career if it meant not being there for her kids during major life moments.
In the past, Bell and Shepard have discussed their parenting approach, which includes allowing their daughters to use curse words under certain conditions and giving them non-alcoholic beer. Shepard explained on his “Armchair Expert” podcast that they raise their daughters to be “entitled” and “disrespectful” with the intention of encouraging them to advocate for themselves.
