Kristen Bell Discusses Dax Shepard's Unique Flirting Style
The actress revealed on his podcast that Shepard flirts by complimenting others, which she finds endearing.
Kristen Bell shared on her husband Dax Shepard's podcast, "Armchair Expert," that his method of flirting involves complimenting other people's features. Bell explained that this is how she knows Shepard is attempting to flirt with her.
"You’ll pull out a feature," Bell said on the podcast. "That’s how I know you’re flirting with me a lot."
Bell, 46, elaborated on how Shepard, 51, demonstrates this during their outings. She described instances where they are at dinner, and Shepard will compliment their server. "Wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job," Shepard has said to waitstaff, according to Bell.
This revelation surprised Bell's "Nobody Wants This" co-star and Shepard's podcast co-host, Monica Padman, who questioned whether Shepard was actually flirting with the server. Bell, however, disagreed, stating, "But that’s flirting with me, because he just made someone else feel good."
Bell, 46, further explained her perspective by noting that Shepard will likely never see the individuals he compliments again. Therefore, she does not feel offended when he expresses admiration for strangers. She added that Shepard has never crossed a line in his interactions with others.
"Like, you’ll point out if someone has great eyebrows or great cheekbones," Bell said. She recalled an instance where Shepard told their friend Heather she had "the eyebrows of the century." Shepard clarified that he was the only one to make the comment.
This unique approach to flirting is what makes Bell feel a special connection to Shepard. "That’s why it gives me butterflies because everyone saw it," she said. "He’s the only one that said it. Maybe she hadn’t had a compliment today. And I’m with the guy that’s pouring compliments on people, making people feel good."
Shepard humorously stated that there is one physical attribute he avoids complimenting: "I don’t do lips. That’s crazy."
Bell and Shepard, who married in October 2013, have two children and are known for their candid discussions about their relationship. They have previously spoken about attending couples therapy since they met, not having a prenup, and allowing their daughters to drink non-alcoholic beer.
