Actress Kristen Bell has revealed that she cries weekly while navigating the challenges of her marriage to Dax Shepard and raising their two daughters, Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11. Bell, 46, described the experience of parenting pre-teens and teenagers as a "cyclone of puberty" in a recent interview with Bustle magazine.

"It's hard. Do not think because I am on your television that it is easy for me. It's brutal. I cry weekly," Bell stated. She emphasized that the intensity of this phase of parenting can make mothers feel isolated, but stressed that "My kid is the only one doing this. And that is just simply not a fact."

Bell, who married Shepard in October 2013, noted that she seeks advice from experts like Dr. Becky Kennedy and Dr. Lisa Damour to guide her in sharing her experiences, particularly on social media. She identifies as a "feeler" and believes that vulnerability can fuel creativity, which she considers vital. However, she balances this with her primary responsibility to protect her daughters.

While she and Shepard were more open about sharing aspects of their children's lives when they were younger, Bell explained that the dynamic has shifted. "There's someone else in the mix, and you have to have enough self-awareness and consideration to consider that person. And that person is my daughter, so she's No. 1."

Bell's candidness drew mixed reactions online. Some social media users expressed a lack of sympathy, with one commenter suggesting, "Try doing it living between paychecks." Others made sarcastic remarks. However, some offered a more empathetic perspective, with one user writing, "It's not that difficult, in fact it's very rewarding to have a family that loves you."

Regarding her parenting approach, Bell previously told People magazine that she and Shepard enforce a rule requiring any disagreements within the family to be resolved visibly in front of the children. "We always make up in front of them if anyone gets snarky or frustrated or fights, which we all do," she said.

Shepard, known for his Armchair Expert podcast, has spoken about the positive impact of fatherhood on his mental health. He told Luxury London that becoming a dad has helped him overcome issues that might otherwise have led to depression. He finds his primary identity as a father liberating, more so than his roles as a writer or director.

Bell also shared that she initially had reservations about motherhood, admitting, "I wasn’t even sure that I wanted kids, which is shocking for me to say out loud now given how much I’m addicted to them." She concluded by expressing her deep love for her daughters, even during difficult moments.

Bell currently stars in the television series "Nobody Wants This," which premiered its third season on Thursday. The show features Bell and Adam Brody as an unconventional couple facing various struggles.
