Korean Grocery Chain Mega Mart Opens First Southern California Location
The popular chain known for affordable ramen and sushi will open its doors in La Habra this Thursday, replacing a former Amazon Fresh.
Mega Mart, a well-known Korean grocery chain, is set to open its first Southern California location in La Habra on Thursday, October 29. The new supermarket is located at 1610 W. Imperial Hwy in the La Habra Marketplace, taking the place of an Amazon Fresh that closed last year.
The grand opening event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Founded in 1975 in South Korea, Mega Mart currently operates 14 stores in its home country and four in the United States: three in California (Fremont, Sunnyvale, and Palo Alto) and one in Duluth, Georgia.
The chain has gained popularity for its extensive selection of imported Korean goods, particularly its wide array of affordable ramen, sushi, and prepared meals. Mega Mart also carries Korean beauty products. The La Habra store will feature a dining area near its entrance.
To celebrate the opening, the first 500 customers at the La Habra Mega Mart will receive a free 5lb bag of Icheon rice. The arrival of Mega Mart in Southern California follows the recent opening of Hashi Market, a Japanese grocer, in the region.
Fans have expressed excitement about the new store's opening. Comments on social media indicate anticipation for convenient access to Korean market products and enthusiasm for the store's offerings, with one user noting, "My teens are going to love this store!"
