Bryan Kohberger, who pleaded guilty to the murders of four University of Idaho students, has now stated he is innocent and wishes to withdraw his guilty plea. Kohberger, 31, claims he was induced to agree to the plea deal based on "false promises and blatant disinformation," according to an interview with The New York Times.
Kohberger entered a guilty plea in June 2025, avoiding a potential death sentence by firing squad. At the time of his plea, he affirmed his guilt when questioned multiple times during the hearing and also agreed to waive his right to appeal the case. Evidence presented ties Kohberger to the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, who were killed on November 30, 2022.
Kohberger's claim of innocence comes a year after he admitted guilt in the case. The investigation into the murders involved a significant amount of evidence connecting him to the crime scene and the victims.
