The New York Knicks have relaunched individual game ticket sales after a pricing error led to exorbitant costs during the initial launch. The team announced that sales resumed Wednesday morning via Ticketmaster with prices reflecting approximately a 12% increase over last season.
MSG representatives stated that all fans who paid more than the corrected amount during the original sale will receive a direct communication regarding their refund. Emails detailing the refund process were expected to be sent out on Wednesday.
Last week, the Knicks suspended ticket sales for the upcoming season shortly after they began, acknowledging a mistake that resulted in significantly higher prices than intended. For example, opening night tickets against the 76ers initially had an average price of $2,500, with some upper-deck seats exceeding $1,000. The team's subsequent announcement promised a more modest increase, aligning with the 12% rise over the previous season.
Under owner James Dolan, the Knicks have historically increased ticket prices in correlation with playoff appearances. This practice has occurred for the past four seasons, including their championship run last season. Tickets at Madison Square Garden are known for being among the most expensive in the NBA, yet consistently sell out due to high demand.
