New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet has taken up a new role off the court this offseason, working as a photographer at the U.S. Open. Shamet was seen in the photo pit at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night, capturing images during the quarterfinal match between Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro. He was positioned among other credentialed photographers covering the event.
This marks Shamet's third year participating in photography at the Grand Slam event in Flushing Meadows. He has previously served as an unpaid photographer for the USTA during the tournament, initially shooting photos during the first week in 2024 and returning to photograph the final weekend in 2025. Shamet has shared some of his photographic work from the previous year's tournament on his Instagram account, noting the use of a Sony a7R V camera.
USTA photographer Jen Pottheiser described Shamet's action photos as "tremendous" and noted his engagement with the craft, calling him "a student of photography" who asks "amazing questions."
Shamet began his interest in photography five years ago and has found it to be a passion he intends to maintain. He stated that he always carries a camera, whether for personal enjoyment or for events like the U.S. Open. In late June, Shamet signed a four-year, $24 million contract to return to the Knicks, having averaged 9.3 points per game in the regular season and 6.0 points per game in the playoffs.
