Kirstie Allsopp's Stolen Land Rover Defender Recovered

TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has announced that her stolen Land Rover Defender has been recovered, expressing her relief on social media. The theft of the vehicle occurred on Monday, just weeks after Allsopp sustained a broken leg in a fall.

Allsopp, 55, initially shared her distress over the theft, joking that the blue vehicle was likely already en route to Timbuktu. She described the theft as adding 'insult to injury,' particularly given her recent airlift to a hospital in Devon after her fall. She also posted a photo of the car, noting its 'Norland' marking, a reference to a neighborhood in west London.

On Wednesday morning, Allsopp provided a positive update, thanking both the Metropolitan Police and Land Rover's car tracking system for the vehicle's recovery. She humorously acknowledged the media attention the incident had garnered by posting her own mock headline: 'Thrilled Kirstie Allsopp thanks Land Rover tracker and Met Police for finding car.'

Allsopp had previously explained that the Land Rover was the only vehicle she could comfortably travel in following surgery for her broken leg, which she suffered after slipping on a 'muddy patch on a steep path' at a beach in Devon. She also admitted that she and her husband, property tycoon Ben Anderson, had purchased tracking devices for the car, but they remained unused in their packaging at the time of the theft.

Allsopp married Anderson in Mayfair in January 2025, after more than two decades together. They have two sons, Bay, 20, and Oscar, 18. Following her accident, she shared images from her hospital bed, including X-rays, and recounted how it required a significant effort from multiple individuals to locate her for the air ambulance transport.

She had been celebrating her birthday with her family at their holiday home in Meadowgate when the incident occurred, having enjoyed a picnic on the beach at Welcombe Mouth shortly before the fall.

Land Rover thefts had been a significant concern for the company in the years following the pandemic, with a peak of 7,136 vehicles stolen in 2023. However, numbers have decreased since then, with 5,455 thefts in 2024 and 3,939 in 2025. Land Rover attributes this decline to security enhancements, including software updates, improved key protection measures, and increased cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
