Television presenter Kirstie Allsopp announced that her Land Rover Defender was stolen in London, a few weeks after she underwent surgery for a broken leg. The "Location, Location, Location" host joked on social media that the blue vehicle, with the registration number BK75 HXS, was likely already being transported out of the country.
Allsopp, 55, described the theft as adding "insult to injury," referencing a recent incident where she was airlifted to a hospital after falling during a family holiday in Devon. She tweeted that the vehicle was "nick[ed]" and shared its license plate and color, adding, "It's probably in a container on route to Timbuktu by now but just in case please RT."
She also posted a photograph of the hybrid car, noting it was marked "Norland," an area in west London. Responding to a follower, Allsopp clarified that it was "Our car, mostly driven by Ben, but now the only one I can comfortably travel in, I was going to the wheelchair shop this afternoon!"
Regarding security, Allsopp mentioned that while she had purchased car trackers, they had not yet been installed. She indicated that the theft occurred despite having a GPS tracker, which was still in its original packaging.
Earlier in September, Allsopp revealed she had surgery after breaking her leg in a slip on a "muddy patch on a steep path" on a beach in Devon. She shared images from her hospital bed, including X-rays, and stated that a significant rescue effort was required to locate her so that an air ambulance could transport her to the hospital. The incident occurred while her family was celebrating her birthday at their holiday home, Meadowgate, following a picnic on the beach at Welcombe Mouth.
Land Rover thefts had become a notable issue for the manufacturer in the years following the pandemic, with a peak of 7,136 vehicles stolen in 2023. However, the number has since decreased, with 5,455 thefts in 2024 and 3,939 in 2025. The company attributes this decline to enhanced security measures, including software updates, improved key protection, and increased collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
