Television presenter Kirstie Allsopp was recently airlifted to a hospital in Cornwall for leg surgery after a fall during her birthday celebration. The 55-year-old star of "Location, Location, Location" shared details of the incident on social media, describing how she slipped on a "muddy step" on a steep path while enjoying a picnic on the beach.

Allsopp posted images of her bandaged foot and face, which was covered in tubes as she prepared for surgery. She explained that after her fall at Welcombe Mouth, her son Oscar alerted others for help. The RNLI Bude lifeboat paramedics and the Cornwall Air Ambulance Service were instrumental in locating her, utilizing the #whatthreewords app, and transporting her to the hospital.

"Everyone at Barnstaple hospital has been amazing, kind & caring," Allsopp wrote, expressing gratitude to the medical staff and those who assisted in her rescue. She indicated that she would be home soon but would require a boot and crutches for a period. Despite the injury, she noted she could still work remotely.

The incident occurred on what is a favorite birthday tradition for Allsopp, involving a picnic on the beach and a walk. She thanked the individuals involved in her care, including those in the ambulance and at the hospital. Allsopp is married to property tycoon Ben Anderson, and they have two sons, Bay and Oscar.
