TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has claimed that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will eventually resent their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for limiting their connection to their British heritage. Allsopp, whose late father was a friend of Princess Diana, suggested that the children will feel they are missing out on significant aspects of their upbringing.
Archie, aged seven, and Lilibet, five, are not expected to see their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, during Prince Harry's current visit to Britain. This estrangement is attributed to the ongoing rift between the Sussexes and the Prince and Princess of Wales, which reportedly stems from the Sussexes' public comments following their departure from royal duties.
"In about 12 years' time these children will rebel," Allsopp stated. "They will come to the UK, meet their cousins and other family, and bitterly resent their British life being taken from them." She added that the situation is "staggeringly predictable and sad."
Archie and Lilibet have not visited their father's homeland since June 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It is understood that Lilibet has met her grandfather, King Charles, only once. Prince Harry has reportedly expressed a desire for his children to attend school in Britain when they are older, feeling they are missing out on the extensive family network enjoyed by their niece and nephews.
Allsopp's maternal connections include Queen Camilla, who was a childhood friend of Allsopp's late mother and is the godmother to Allsopp's brother.
