King Charles Pays Prince Andrew to Vacate Royal Lodge

King Charles has reportedly paid a significant sum from his private income to his brother, Prince Andrew, to cover repair and restoration costs associated with the former prince's departure from Royal Lodge. The Crown Estate, which manages the property, will receive £1.5 million, while Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, will receive £302,000 as compensation for vacating the premises before his lease expired.

Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were both entitled to compensation as they made repairs and left the property earlier than their lease term stipulated. A spokesperson for the Crown Estate stated that their focus is now on the future use of Royal Lodge and maximizing its financial value.

Prince Andrew has since relocated to Marsh Farm, a five-bedroom property situated on King Charles's Sandringham Estate. This move follows a period of diminished royal standing for the former prince.

Royal Disgrace and Departure

Mountbatten-Windsor stepped back from public royal duties in 2019 amid allegations related to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In 2022, he was stripped of his honorary military titles and royal patronages. Later that year, he reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual abuse, a claim he denied.

More recently, the Duke of York has been involved in legal actions questioning the validity of his arrest and search warrants executed on his birthday. The Department of Justice also released documents and photos related to the Epstein investigation, some of which involved Mountbatten-Windsor.
