King Charles III celebrated the close relationship between his heir, Prince William, and the Crown Prince of Oman during a state banquet, even as his younger son, Prince Harry, spoke of his desire for family reconciliation. The banquet, held during a three-day state visit by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said of Oman, saw King Charles highlight the shared patronage of the Jewel of Arabia expedition by the two princes.

"Your Majesty, there can be few happier symbols of success than a living relationship being passed from one generation to the next," King Charles stated, emphasizing the generational aspect of the bond. The monarch also spoke of the long-standing friendship between Britain and Oman, particularly noting Oman's role as a mediator during a time of conflict in the Middle East. He praised Oman's efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and acknowledged its "constructive neutrality."

The King's remarks came hours after an interview with Prince Harry was released, in which the Duke of Sussex discussed his "complicated relationships" with his father and brother. Harry expressed a desire for reconciliation, stating, "Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out." He also described sibling disagreements and broken familial relationships as "massively relatable."

However, a spokesperson for Prince Harry later clarified that his comments were not directed at his brother, William, or any other family member, and were made in a general context. Harry and William have reportedly not spoken for four years, a rift that has been exacerbated by public statements and Harry's memoir, "Spare."

The state banquet at Windsor Castle was attended by 160 guests. Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, were also present for the occasion. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said's visit marks an important diplomatic event, underscoring the historic alliance between Oman and the United Kingdom.
