Kimmel Mocks Trump's Self-Esteem and Marriage in Monologue
The late-night host also criticized Trump's remarks about Iran potentially attacking Los Angeles and San Diego.
Jimmy Kimmel addressed President Donald Trump's public statements and perceived insecurities during a recent episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Kimmel noted a trend where Trump's self-esteem appears to increase as his approval ratings decline, referencing a rally where Trump declared himself the "GOAT" (greatest of all time).
"It's so sad," Kimmel remarked. "He might be the most insecure person in the history of the world. Remember when we all used to hate people who talked like that? ‘I’m the GOAT.’ This one we made president."
Kimmel also criticized what he called Trump's "truly appalling" comments suggesting Iran could attack Los Angeles and San Diego. The White House, however, clarified that Trump's intent was to prevent such attacks, not to call for them.
Kimmel speculated on a potential personal reason for Trump's focus on California, playing a clip of California Governor Gavin Newsom greeting first lady Melania Trump with a kiss earlier in the year. "Our governor got farther with his wife than he has in 15 years," Kimmel quipped. "That’s right. And she’s been California dreamin’ ever since."
