Kimmel Mocks Trump's Outburst at Reporter, Cites Irony
The late-night host questioned the former president's 'good mood' and his criticism of a reporter's appearance.
Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday addressed President Donald Trump's recent heated exchange with a reporter, highlighting what he described as irony in the former president's demeaning remarks. Kimmel pointed out that Trump appeared to be in a particularly "good mood" ahead of the midterm elections, despite potential losses for his party.
The exchange, captured in a video clip, showed Trump losing his temper when a reporter asked if he canceled a rally in Kansas due to being "sick of traveling." Trump responded by personally attacking the reporter's appearance, calling him a "dope," "disgusting," and telling him to "put yourself in shape, you look like hell."
Kimmel responded to Trump's comments by questioning the White House's access to mirrors, suggesting Trump might benefit from seeing his own reflection in the Reflecting Pool.
The monologue also touched upon Trump's cancellation of two weekend rallies and recent interruptions at his events. One heckler reportedly shouted, "Trump went on the Jeffrey Epstein plane." Kimmel referenced Trump's past association with Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and Trump's claim that he had expelled Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort for being a "whack job."
Kimmel then played footage of Trump from the previous year, stating he removed Epstein from his spa at Mar-a-Lago for hiring away staff. Trump had recalled telling Epstein to stop after he repeated the action. Kimmel concluded by humorously suggesting that Trump's true reason for expelling Epstein was the poaching of his "massage girls."
