Kimberly Guilfoyle's Tenure in Greece Ends Amidst Controversy

Kimberly Guilfoyle's tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece has concluded under a cloud of controversy, marked by reports of her attempts to secure intervention from prominent Republican figures as her position became increasingly unstable.

Sources indicate that as her ambassadorship faced challenges, Guilfoyle reached out to individuals including Fox News host Pete Hegseth and former Trump campaign manager Steve Bannon for support. She reportedly asked them to advocate on her behalf to President Donald Trump, aiming to salvage her position in Athens. Calls were also reportedly made to media executive Rupert Murdoch.

Guilfoyle's attorney, Adam Miller, described Tom Barrack, a close associate of Trump's, as a "friend and mentor" to Guilfoyle when contacted by the Daily Mail. Barrack, however, has not publicly commented on any role he may have played.

The circumstances surrounding Guilfoyle's departure remain partially unclear, with reports of deleted photos and an atmosphere of accusations of leakers within the embassy. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) following the White House's announcement of her resignation, Guilfoyle addressed the allegations and denied any wrongdoing. She stated, "It is deeply disappointing that I have been the target of a coordinated smear campaign by individuals who oppose my policies and my role as a voice for American interests."

Guilfoyle, who previously dated Donald Trump Jr., was appointed ambassador to Greece in October 2019. Her appointment was seen by some as a political reward. She officially took up her post in Athens in September 2020. Following her exit, President Trump reportedly distanced himself from her, stating she "wasn't part of my family" and adding, "I guess she dated my son."

Guilfoyle has since returned to the United States and is reportedly living in Jefferson House, the ambassador's villa located in the Kolonaki neighborhood of Athens. The U.S. Embassy in Athens now awaits a new ambassador to be appointed.
