Kentucky attorney and GOP donor Eric Deters, who shared the messages, indicated that Guilfoyle was upset by the public appearance of her ex-fiancé with another woman. In one exchange, Guilfoyle referred to a story about the photos as "fake news" and insisted, "I wasn't hurting wtf."
Deters, who hosted Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. at events over several years, suggested he had a firsthand view of the unraveling of their relationship. He noted that Guilfoyle's reaction to the photos of Trump Jr. and Anderson was indicative of the strain in their own engagement. The messages also allude to attempts by Guilfoyle to manage her public image and private life, with Deters describing her actions as reminiscent of a "high schooler" trying to hide her activities.
Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle's relationship began shortly after his split from his first wife, Vanessa Trump, in 2018. The couple, often referred to as a "MAGA power couple," had been engaged. In December 2024, Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson were seen leaving dinner together in Palm Beach, and in April, they attended a bridal showers. Photos from a May wedding party for Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson were later posted online.
