Kimberly Guilfoyle Resigns as Ambassador to Greece Amid Donor Controversy

Kimberly Guilfoyle has resigned as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece after the White House requested her departure. The decision follows reports that Guilfoyle had asked a donor for $100,000 to cover personal bills, including a significant American Express balance, prior to her confirmation.

In a statement posted on X, Guilfoyle expressed her continued loyalty to former President Donald Trump and his "America First" movement. "My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again," Guilfoyle stated. She added, "While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end."

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed that Guilfoyle had been asked to step down. Guilfoyle, however, maintained her innocence regarding the allegations, calling them "false" and stating her intention to "vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity." She asserted that decades of public service should not be defined by "false accusations."

Guilfoyle, who is also the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, previously worked as an on-air personality for Fox News. The controversy reportedly caused consternation for Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
