Kim Zolciak's Son KJ Biermann Denied Request to Close Courtroom in Sexual Battery Case

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge has denied a motion by Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, to close the courtroom in his sodomy and sexual battery case. The judge ruled that the legal standard for closing a courtroom was not met.

However, the court did grant KJ’s request for privacy protections, including restricting media recording and photography to the extent necessary for the court’s measures. Additionally, his juvenile court records have been ordered to be filed under seal, preventing public access. The judge also denied KJ's request to prevent prosecutors from using limited information from his juvenile case relevant to his bond consideration.

Prosecutors had previously filed an emergency motion requesting forensic interviews of minor children in relation to the case. KJ was arrested last month and subsequently indicted on seven charges. These charges include aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16, and false imprisonment.

The allegations stem from an incident in April where a female classmate accused KJ of sexual assault in a co-ed sauna at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia. The accuser claims KJ forcibly attempted sexual intercourse after she refused, and also forced oral sex and digital penetration.

KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, has stated that his client is “100% innocent,” a sentiment echoed by his mother, Kim Zolciak, who has publicly defended her son and asserted his denial of the allegations.

KJ was granted a $200,000 bond, which came with strict stipulations. He was required to surrender his passport, is banned from using his cellphone or social media, must attend school virtually from his mother's home, and is subject to electronic monitoring. He is also prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, her family or associates, or anyone under the age of 16.

During a previous bond hearing, prosecutors claimed to have found multiple videos on KJ’s cellphone depicting him engaging in sexual activity with an underage family member. Reports indicate he has been under court supervision since October 2025 following an alleged incident in April 2023. His parents had reportedly confiscated his cellphone a year prior to the discovery of these videos.
