Kim Pegula, wife of Bills owner Terry Pegula, was present on the field Saturday at the newly opened Highmark Stadium, marking her first known public appearance since July 2024. The event coincided with the team welcoming fans to the $2.2 billion venue for the first time for a practice session.
Pegula has been largely out of the public eye since suffering cardiac arrest in June 2022, an event that led to a brain injury due to oxygen deprivation, as detailed by her daughter, tennis player Jessica Pegula, in a February 2023 Players' Tribune article. During Saturday's event, Kim Pegula was seen walking with her husband, Terry, and posing for photographs with their son, Matthew.
In her 2023 article, Jessica Pegula shared that her mother was experiencing "significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues." She also credited her sister, Kelly, with saving their mother's life by administering CPR until paramedics arrived.
Prior to her health emergency, Kim Pegula was a consistent presence alongside her husband, who also owns the Buffalo Sabres. She remains listed as a co-owner on the official websites for both teams. Her previous public appearances since 2022 include attending Bills training camp in July 2023 and again in July 2024, where she participated in breaking down a team huddle.
