Reality television personality Kim Kardashian has undergone surgery to remove irregularities from her esophagus, a health scare she revealed on the latest episode of "The Kardashians." Kardashian, 46, shared that she had been feeling unwell and experiencing throat pain.

Doctors informed Kardashian that she had inflammation of the esophagus, a condition known as esophagitis. "I’ve been feeling a little off lately. My throat is like killing me today," she said in a confessional segment of the show.

Kardashian expressed that the diagnosis was particularly distressing due to its connection to her father, Robert Kardashian, who died of esophageal cancer in 2003. "I’ve seen a couple of doctors, and it’s been heavy on my mind lately," she admitted to the cameras. "Hopefully I can just take medication, and this will go away, but I just don’t know what’s going to happen."

In a preview for an upcoming episode, Kardashian further elaborated on the procedure, stating, "The doctor says my esophagus has these irregularities and I have to have them cut out... That’s the same thing my dad had." The preview also showed her in a hospital gown, accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner.

Kardashian had previously mentioned her esophagitis diagnosis in the season eight trailer, telling a producer, "I have something called esophagitis." When asked if that was what her father died from, she confirmed it was.

Robert Kardashian, a prominent attorney, was widely known for his role as a close friend and defense team member for O.J. Simpson during his murder trial. His death in 2003 from esophageal cancer marked a significant loss for his family.
