Kim Kardashian Sought to Mend F1 Relationship After Monaco Snub
The reality star's team contacted Sky Sports to ensure a smoother interaction with Martin Brundle at the Singapore Grand Prix, following backlash from a previous encounter.
Kim Kardashian took steps to avoid repeating a previous awkward encounter with Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday. Following criticism from fans after she appeared to ignore Brundle during a grid walk at the Monaco Grand Prix, Kardashian's team reportedly reached out to Sky Sports ahead of the Singapore event.
An insider told the Daily Mail that the SKIMS founder aimed to make a "good impression" in the Formula 1 paddock, especially as her relationship with Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton continues to develop. "Kim's team reached out to SkySports to make sure she could do the Martin Brundle grid walk chat due to the backlash she had received last time," the source stated. "She got off on the wrong foot with the presenter in Monaco and didn't want a repeat of the backlash at her second race."
To ensure a more positive interaction, Kardashian's team reportedly arranged a specific time and place to meet Brundle during the pre-race grid walk. Instead of staying with Hamilton's car, she waited on the red carpet for Brundle at 7:15 p.m. local time (12:15 p.m. BST).
During the approximately 45-second conversation, Kardashian, dressed in a floral corset dress, humorously asked Brundle, "Did we get off on the wrong foot?" She expressed her enjoyment of Formula 1, describing it as "amazing and fun and wild." She also commented on Hamilton's confidence, stating, "Yes, [he is] very confident and so am I, just got to pray for the best."
Kardashian and Hamilton reportedly began dating around February, and their relationship has become more public, including going Instagram-official. They were seen together during the summer, including a trip to Paris and cycling in London. The two stars have known each other for years, having been seen checking into a hotel together in January.
Kardashian's attendance at the Monaco Grand Prix in June was when the initial friction with Brundle occurred. Hamilton has publicly acknowledged their relationship, responding positively when a fan asked about his recent happiness possibly being due to a girlfriend.
Hamilton has also reportedly met Kardashian's four children with ex-husband Kanye West: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
