Kim Kardashian has shared details of her final conversation with her late father, Robert Kardashian, just hours before his death. In the new authorized biography, "Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future," the 46-year-old reality television star recounted her father's poignant words.
Robert Kardashian, a respected attorney known for his role in the O.J. Simpson murder case, died of esophageal cancer in July 2003 at the age of 59. Kardashian described her father's final message to her as "I know you’re going to be good – I can see it. It’s as if I can see what your whole life is going to be like."
She recalled the moment vividly, stating, "He put his hand on my leg. I’ll never forget it. And I was laying next to him on this couch – this L-shaped couch – and we were kind of squished in this way, watching a movie. And he said, 'You’ll be fine. But take care of the other ones. And make sure your brother’s good.'"
Kardashian also described the last time she saw her father when he was unable to communicate. "He couldn’t communicate, but he was in his little bed, and I knew his vitals were almost gone," she said. "And the last thing I said to him was, 'Dad, thank you so much for everything that you’ve taught me, from how to be a good person, to how you did my homework with me, everything I’m going to do with my kids one day. And I’m going to take the lesson of you being in my life and carry that forward.'"
She recounted that a pastor then advised the family to say their goodbyes, suggesting that their presence was keeping him from passing. Kardashian stated that after she left his home, she received the call informing her of his death approximately 30 minutes later.
In February, Kardashian honored her father on what would have been his 82nd birthday, sharing a home movie on Instagram with the caption, "Happy Birthday dad. I miss you so much every day."
The biography, penned by Jonathan Van Meter over five years with Kardashian's consent, was published on Tuesday. Robert Kardashian is also survived by his daughters Kourtney, 47, Khloe, 42, and son Rob, 39.
