Kim Kardashian Recalls Father Robert Kardashian Sr.'s Final Words
The SKIMS founder shared poignant details of her last conversation with her father before his death in 2003.
Kim Kardashian has shared intimate details of her final conversation with her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., before his death from cancer in 2003. In an interview with author Jonathan Van Meter for the biography "Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future," Kardashian recalled her father's prediction of her future success.
"The last thing my dad ever said to me was, ‘I know you’re going to be good — I can see it,'" Kardashian told Van Meter, as reported by People. She added that her father, who was 59 at the time of his death, was not able to go into detail as he was unwell.
Kardashian recounted the moment, saying, "It’s as if I can see what your whole life is going to be like."
She described sitting with her father on an L-shaped couch watching a movie. "He put his hand on my leg," she remembered. "I’ll never forget it. And I was laying next to him on this couch — this L-shaped couch — and we were kinda squished in this way."
Her father's last words also included a plea for her to look after her siblings. "You’ll be fine. But take care of the other ones. And make sure your brother’s good," he told her, referring to her sisters Kourtney, Khloé, and brother Rob.
Kardashian also shared what she said to her father in their final moments together. When he was bedridden and unable to communicate, she expressed her gratitude. "I knew his vitals were almost gone, and the last thing I said to him was, ‘Dad, thank you so much for everything that you’ve taught me, from how to be a good person, to how you did my homework with me, everything I’m going to do with my kids one day,'" she recalled.
She continued, "‘And I’m going to take the lesson of you being in my life and carry that forward.'"
Robert Kardashian Sr. died on September 30, 2003, after a battle with esophageal cancer. He shared Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob with his ex-wife Kris Jenner. The couple divorced in 1991, and Robert Sr. later remarried before his death.
