Kim Kardashian has addressed the timing of her Instagram post featuring vacation photos, which was shared shortly after the news of her grandmother Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell’s death broke.

Kardashian explained in the comments section of her post that the vacation photos were scheduled to be published days before her grandmother’s passing. “This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing,” she stated.

Kris Jenner, Kardashian’s mother, announced her own mother’s death on Thursday. “Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ,” Jenner wrote in a tribute on Instagram. Campbell was 91.

Minutes after Jenner’s announcement, Kardashian posted a carousel of images from a recent lakeside vacation with her children, sister Khloé, and boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. The timing led some fans to question the appropriateness of the post, with comments including, “Didn’t MJ just die and you posting this? WOW,” and “Girl, what about your grandma!?”

However, other fans defended Kardashian, suggesting the post was part of a planned content schedule. “Do you guys really think she would post this intentionally at the same time as the news of her grandma passing? It’s clearly a scheduled post. Get a grip,” one commenter wrote.

Kardashian further elaborated in her comment, stating her commitment to her family during this time. “I’ve been by my mom and grandma’s side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now,” she wrote. “We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we’ll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life.”

Later, Kardashian posted a separate tribute to her grandmother. “My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin… You taught all of us the importance of family,” Kardashian wrote alongside a series of photos of them together throughout the years. She highlighted her grandmother’s influence as a businesswoman and her role in fostering family values. “You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman. You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since,” she added. Kardashian concluded the tribute by expressing her love and promising to carry on her grandmother’s legacy: “You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us. I know you’re at peace now. Give Papa Harry, Aunt Karen, and my dad a hug for me. You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. 🤍 YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!”
