Kim Kardashian Discusses Managing Daughter North's Spotlight and Co-Parenting with Kanye West

Kim Kardashian has shared that she sometimes needs to temper her daughter North's enthusiasm for the spotlight, while also detailing an improved co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband, Kanye West.

Kardashian, who is the primary guardian of their four children – North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7 – explained in an interview with The Sunday Times that North has a strong inclination towards public-facing projects. "I do worry about it," Kardashian said. "Each kid does what they're comfortable with." She elaborated that while her younger children participate in filming for their reality show, "The Kardashians," only peripherally, North is more actively engaged.

"North loves it a little bit more than the rest. I hold her back," Kardashian stated. "All she wants to do is forward-facing projects. And so it's like us really kind of trying to savor those moments and not doing everything that comes her way, so we can really make sure that we manage it the right way."

Regarding music-related endeavors, which have been a significant focus for North, Kardashian noted a more collaborative approach with West. "And with her, since it's more music-related, that is something that her dad and I have better communication about. We make sure that we're aligned and that she's in projects that we both approve."

This improved communication marks a shift from past instances where their parenting approaches diverged. Previously, Kardashian and West had disagreements over North's involvement in certain projects. One notable occasion involved West including North's vocals on a track featuring Sean "Diddy" Combs, who was facing accusations of sexual misconduct at the time.

North's burgeoning public profile has also drawn attention to her fashion choices. She has released a debut EP this year and appeared on the cover of Dazed magazine, with her net worth estimated to be between $50 million and $375 million. Earlier, North's decision to get a dermal piercing at a young age sparked public debate, though she addressed the criticism on TikTok. She has since appeared with multiple piercings in her music videos and collaborations, including one with Lil Novi, the son of Lil Wayne.
