Kim Kardashian Channels Elizabeth Taylor at Academy Museum Gala
The reality star sported a vintage Balenciaga gown and a bouffant hairstyle, reminiscent of the iconic actress.
Kim Kardashian paid homage to Elizabeth Taylor on the red carpet at the Sixth Annual Academy Museum Gala in 2026, adopting a bouffant hairstyle reminiscent of the legendary actress. She selected an archival Balenciaga gown from 1951, sourced from vintage dealer Lily et Cie. The strapless dress featured a pale color, a pink sash across the neckline, and a large bow at the back, detailed with delicate lace.
Kardashian, 44, accessorized the vintage ensemble with a multi-layered diamond necklace and oversized diamond cluster earrings. Her styling was overseen by Law Roach.
The choice of Balenciaga held significance, as Kardashian has a history with the brand, having walked for them in 2025 wearing earrings previously owned by Taylor. The reality television star has frequently expressed admiration for Taylor, releasing a docuseries about her last year and often drawing inspiration from the actress's style.
Kardashian was joined at the event by other notable figures, including her sister Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. Taylor Swift was also in attendance and scheduled to perform. The gala, in its sixth year, honored filmmaker John Carpenter and actor Colman Domingo, with Charlize Theron also being celebrated. The event's co-chairs included Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg, and Kate Capshaw.
Last year, Kardashian made a memorable appearance at the same gala wearing a dramatic Maison Margiela couture gown that covered her entire face with a mask.
