Kim Kardashian Awarded Symbolic 1 Euro in Paris Robbery Case

Kim Kardashian has been awarded one euro ($1.15) in compensation by a Paris court following the 2016 armed robbery in which she lost millions of dollars worth of jewelry. The ruling brings a decade-long legal process to a close, providing a measure of accountability for the traumatic event.

In October 2016, Kardashian was targeted in her Paris hotel suite by robbers disguised as police officers. The assailants bound her with zip ties and tape, leaving the reality star with fears for her life. The incident resulted in the loss of jewelry valued at $10 million, including a $4 million engagement ring from her then-husband, rapper Kanye West, which has never been recovered. The perpetrators, some of whom were in their 60s and 70s at the time of their trial, were known in France as the 'grandpa robbers.'

Last year, eight individuals were found guilty for their roles in the robbery, a verdict Kardashian described as "the most terrifying experience of my life." The one euro awarded to Kardashian was the exact amount she had requested in compensation.

In a joint statement with her stylist Simone Harouche, who was present during the robbery, Kardashian expressed gratitude to the French justice system. "The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition," the statement read. "We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal."

The court also awarded compensation to others affected by the heist. A former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, who was present during the robbery, received 109,516 euros ($126,472). The hotel itself was awarded 50,000 euros ($57,741). Kardashian's stylist, Simone Harouche, was awarded one euro, matching the amount requested.

None of the convicted individuals returned to prison, as they had already served time in pretrial detention, and none appealed the verdict. Kardashian previously stated her appreciation for the French authorities' pursuit of justice and her commitment to advocating for victims within the criminal justice system.
