Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton's Past Feud Reignites Over Biography Snub
The author of Kim Kardashian's biography claims Paris Hilton canceled on an interview 17 times, stirring up past tensions.
The long-simmering feud between Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton has reportedly resurfaced due to Hilton's alleged refusal to participate in Kardashian's authorized biography. Jonathan Van Meter, author of "Citizen Kim," revealed that Hilton repeatedly canceled interviews for the book, which is set to be released on October 27.
Van Meter told The Hollywood Reporter that late in the book's writing process, he requested to interview Hilton, who was Kardashian's former boss. Kardashian reportedly confirmed Hilton's agreement, but Van Meter noted that he had to go through Hilton's publicist. "I sent questions and connected with Hilton’s assistant, but the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months," Van Meter stated. He added that he eventually found the repeated cancellations more compelling than what Hilton might have said.
Kardashian was reportedly angered by Hilton's flakiness, which Van Meter described as stirring up "some ancient irritation between them." However, a source close to Kardashian told Page Six that the claim of her being angry is untrue, and that both women continue to support each other's projects.
Kardashian, 46, began her career as a stylist and assistant to Hilton in the early 2000s, leading to a close friendship. Their relationship reportedly soured as Kardashian's fame grew following her sex tape and the success of her reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Their past drama escalated in 2008 when Hilton reportedly made a derogatory comment about Kardashian's physique. The two had a notable falling out, with Kardashian not inviting Hilton to her 2014 wedding to Kanye West.
Despite the past conflict, the socialites reconnected in 2016 at Kris Jenner's annual Christmas Eve party and have maintained a more amicable relationship since. Hilton appeared in a Skims fall campaign in 2020, and Kardashian attended Hilton's wedding to Carter Reum in November 2021. Hilton previously described their renewed friendship as "really nice" in a 2019 interview with People, stating, "I’ve known her my whole life and we’ve been having so much fun together lately."
