Kim Delaney Drops Divorce Proceedings Against Husband Amidst Legal Troubles

Actress Kim Delaney has reconciled with her husband, James Morgan, months after filing for divorce and a restraining order against him. Court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail reveal that the NYPD Blue star has moved to dismiss her divorce proceedings. The reconciliation comes after a series of legal issues involving Morgan, including two arrests within a six-month period.

In March, Morgan was arrested at a Marina del Rey apartment complex following multiple calls regarding noise and verbal disturbance. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department took him into custody for allegedly obstructing a public officer and disturbing the peace. In July, Morgan was arrested again by law enforcement after landing at LAX Airport on a Delta flight from Detroit. A Delta spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating the airline has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior.

Delaney had previously been granted a permanent restraining order against Morgan in New Jersey in October 2025. The order mandated that Morgan stay away from the actress and her residences in California and New Jersey.

The couple has a history of domestic disputes that have led to legal entanglements. In the previous year, Morgan accused Delaney of attempting to run him over with her car. During that altercation, Delaney was arrested and charged with felony assault, while Morgan was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence. Both were arrested at the scene, but Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office later declined to file charges against either party due to insufficient evidence.

Delaney herself has faced legal challenges. In January 2024, she was sued by a motorcyclist who alleged she fled the scene after crashing into him in November 2022. Witnesses claimed Delaney was driving erratically prior to the incident. In April 2024, Delaney was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service and a drunk driving program related to the 2022 incident. She was also instructed not to operate a vehicle without a valid license and insurance. Delaney has a history of alcohol-related legal issues, including a 2002 drunk driving arrest and a 2005 incident where her son testified about her driving while intoxicated, leading to her losing custody of him. In 2011, she was removed from a stage at an event after delivering an incoherent speech, which attendees attributed to intoxication.
