Kid Rock Describes White House Dinner with Trump, Maher, and Smith

Musician Kid Rock recently participated in a dinner at the White House with President Donald Trump, comedian Bill Maher, and ESPN host Stephen A. Smith, discussing topics including socialism, communism, and the funding of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Kid Rock recounted the experience on "Fox & Friends," describing the dinner as "epic." He stated that despite differing political affiliations, the four men found common ground on certain issues. "Last night, I'm having dinner at the White House with the president, Bill Maher and Stephen A. Smith. We all agreed socialism and communism has no place to have a foothold in our government," Kid Rock said, referencing the Michigan Senate race and Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

He noted that the conversation encompassed a range of subjects. "Everything from socialism and communism to the war in Iran to Bill Maher was talking getting our interpreters and things from Afghanistan that helped us out," Kid Rock said. He also highlighted Smith's concerns regarding unemployment among Black women and HBCU funding.

Kid Rock stated that he spoke on behalf of President Trump and the administration in encouraging corporations to continue supporting HBCUs. "We know how important education is, especially in the Black community, to strengthen Black families," he added, recalling that President Trump allocated $174 million to HBCUs in 2016.

This was not the first time Kid Rock and Maher had dined with Trump at the White House. Maher had previously mentioned planning another dinner with the president, telling Ari Emanuel on his "Club Random" podcast that Trump had extended the invitation again. Maher described Trump as "really nice" during their previous interactions and likened their dynamic to comedian Don Rickles' style of banter.

During his appearance on "Fox & Friends," Kid Rock also touched on his latest album, "Halfway 2 Jesus," which features collaborations with artists such as Eminem and Lil Wayne. He emphasized the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of the musicians involved in the project, noting that the album aims to promote a message of faith.

Stephen A. Smith speaks on stage at Fanatics Fest.
